It’s been 5 years in the making, but I’m proud to announce that I’m joining the Block Story dev team! Yes, I have access to the game’s code! HeadHunter and I will be working side by side to bring you upcoming Block Story content for many years to come!
This was a plan back during the Space update but those plans never quite came to fruition. However what got this back in order was Google and Apple taking down the game because of HH’s region. From there he approached me with a deal. He sends me over the apps to bring them back on Google Play so he can continue working on the game, I receive part of the profit, and after all of that I can start to work on the game once the Engine update is done. I’ve been anxiously waiting for this moment since then.
When I brought the game back to Google Play, HH and I agreed to take the next step for the game. We gave the game a full rebrand and it’s now owned by a legal company in America. The owner: yours truly 👋 . I spent my summer not only getting the game back to Google Play, but also filing a ton of paperwork with the government making Big Cube Interactive LLC a legal business.
So now it’s public information. Now I can reveal what I’d like to do for the game going forward. I plan on bringing a few new things to the development table such as dev streams, development progress videos, IOS support and so much more! This game needs better developer communication, and with me involved, I can easily fix that.
As for the development side of things, I’ll be helping HH add more future content to the game. We have a plan that has been in order since 2020. There are 2 planned expansions that will be bigger than the space update! As for what we will be doing individually, HH and I are a bit different here. HH wants to add new content and new features. I’m more of a quality of life person. I like what the game already has to offer. I want to change the core experience to make it better than ever. I want it to feel up to the standards of many other sandbox games that you’re familiar with. Something else that has been incredibly frustrating is seeing some editions of the game going out of date. Once I get IOS back I will not let this happen again. Steam, Google Play, and IOS will always be on the same version and won’t mysteriously get deleted from the store fronts.
It’s worth noting that I do have a lot on my plate right now. I’m finishing up my degree while putting in work to update Block Story. Currently Block Story doesn’t turn a much of a profit at all. I mean the game was abandoned for a few years, I think that’s pretty obvious. So as of right now I plan on putting in as much time as I can, however I can’t consider this to be my full time job. It’s more of a hobby/side job because I love the game and see potential in it to become very popular once again.
I’m super excited for the future of this game! I can’t wait to revive this project with you all and take it to new heights where it has never been before!
