Development Update
Hey everyone! The game has hit new milestones and it’s time to share some of these achievements!
Engine
Back in June HH updated the engine from Unity 2016 to Unity 2017. When this happened, every single particle effect in the game broke. This required every single one of them to be redone from scratch. I’m proud to announce that this has been completed and the game has been updated to Unity 2018! Not only were they redone, many were remade to look even better. I plan on making a few more Shorts showing them off. As for the current state of the game, Unity 2018 was the biggest mystery to HH. Updating to it could have completely broken everything requiring months of work, or things would have been just fine. I’m also proud to announce that the game is running just fine, with the exception of a handful of errors. It’s not on the level of all of the effects breaking. In App Purchases are also now compiling and working on this version. The goal is to now quickly fix these errors and update to Unity 2019. These next couple of Engine updates should go by fast (fingers crossed). Once HH reaches Unity 2021, he will be able to add in the highly requested Android 15 support that should fix all of your mobile issues for users that have the latest Android devices! It feels like we are finally on the home stretch of this engine upgrade. Once this is done, it’s onto developing new content for this game!
Backups
HH has made a multi-level backup system. From now on, each time your game saves, it will create a character backup each time the game saves. When the next save occurs, another backup will be created. There will be a max of 5 character backups that will be created for a single character. Once the game saves again, the oldest backup will get overridden with the newest one.
Google Play
This is something I’ve spent my whole summer break on. Even while I was on vacation with my girlfriend, I was sacrificing time and money to make this happen. My goal was to getting the game back up on Google Play and make sure Google doesn’t threaten to take it down again because HH couldn’t do this. I started this in late May and got the game back up on Google Play, and last week I finally finished with everything related to Google. The game is here to stay. It’s also now own/run by a company. More info on that later!
IOS
More news on the IOS version coming back will happen after the Engine updates are finished.
Music
The music team has been hard at work developing more environmental songs for the game! We have 4 new songs, that haven’t been revealed yet, ready to go!
YouTube & Twitch
The game’s appearance and info has been updated on YouTube and Twitch! On YouTube it no longer says “Colony Survival.” It now displays the game’s correct logo with the correct company name. Same goes for Twitch. Although, that one required a lot more changes. Twitch still listed the game in Early Access. That’s how out of date it was. Thanks for the community with helping me fix that one! Without you, I probably wouldn’t have gotten Twitch’s attention!
